OUR STORY

The New Nomad Institute was founded in December 2024 with a mission to deeply understand the value of nomadic societies & explore how their wisdom can be applied to real-world solutions.

We are living in a time of cascading crises — ecological collapse, unchecked technological acceleration, social fragmentation, and geopolitical instability. These challenges are not isolated; they are interconnected symptoms of a global metacrisis fed by a worldview that sees existence as fragmented, value as instrumental, and living as a solitary pursuit. Within this frame, education has too often served to reproduce these assumptions — reinforcing systems of domination rather than cultivating the imagination and wisdom needed for renewal.

To meet this moment, we return to new and ancient ways of knowing and being. How can we re-define how we understand ourselves, others, and the environment?

Mongolia has become the last remaining country where nomadic pastoralists retain significant influence at the national level. Approximately, a third of the nation’s population maintains some form of the traditional nomadic livelihood.

The worldview of the Mongolian nomads is generated by the thousands of years of embodied collective practice, where people live in deep relation with the land and the nature. At New Nomad Institute, we work to embrace this way of being in which existence is continuous, value is inherent, life is collective, and where the future is a one of renewal rather than ruin.
